Dry Eye Treatment in Natick, Dedham, Medford, & Mansfield

If you’re dealing with burning, gritty, or irritated eyes, you may have dry eye disease. A common condition that can worsen without treatment. We provide personalized dry eye evaluations and in-office therapy options to treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Common causes & symptoms of dry eye

Dry eye happens when your eyes don’t produce enough tears or when the tear film breaks down too quickly. It’s often caused by blocked oil glands, screen strain, aging, or environmental factors. You may feel stinging, blurry vision, burning, or a sensation like something is stuck in your eye. If untreated, symptoms can become more frequent and harder to manage.

How we evaluate & treat dry eye at Lickteig Family Eyecare

Each visit begins with a thorough tear film evaluation and gland imaging. We use diagnostic tools like meibography to assess oil gland function, tear quality, and ocular surface stability.

Based on your results, we may recommend a treatment plan that includes at-home therapy, supplements, or in-office procedures like TearCare® and IPL.

TearCare® is a comfortable, heat-based treatment that helps unclog blocked oil glands using gentle warmth and natural blinking.

It’s ideal for patients with meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), a leading cause of evaporative dry eye. The procedure is non-invasive, takes just one visit, and is available at all four of our clinics.

IPL therapy available in Natick

Our Natick office offers Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy using the Lumenis OptiLight system, which is designed to reduce inflammation and improve oil gland function.

This treatment is especially helpful for patients with ocular rosacea or chronic, treatment-resistant dry eye. IPL is available only at our Natick location.
