Myopia Management for Children & Teens
If your child’s nearsightedness is getting worse each year, we can help. We offer proven, non-surgical treatments to slow the progression of myopia and protect long-term vision. Our myopia management program is available at all four of our locations.
What myopia is & why early treatment helps protect your child’s vision
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a condition where distant objects appear blurry. It often begins in childhood and can progress as the eyes grow. If left untreated, it can increase the risk of future eye health issues, including retinal problems and glaucoma. By managing it early, we can help reduce that risk and preserve your child’s vision.
Treatment options at Lickteig Family Eyecare for myopia progression
We offer several evidence-based treatments to help slow the progression of myopia in children and teens. These include MiSight® daily contact lenses, Stellest myopia control spectacle lenses and ortho-k lenses worn overnight to gently shape the eye, and low-dose atropine eye drops. Each option is recommended based on your child’s eye health, age, and lifestyle.
How we monitor & manage myopia over time
At Lickteig Family Eyecare, our team tracks prescription changes, corneal health, and axial eye length using modern imaging tools.
Regular follow-up exams help us assess how well the treatment is working and make adjustments when needed. We work closely with families to create an ongoing care plan that supports long-term results.
We make the experience easier for kids & parents
We understand that managing a vision condition can feel overwhelming. That’s why we take the time to explain options clearly and answer every question.
Our team uses child-friendly tools and language to help kids feel more comfortable and confident during their visits.
